In the mountains of Colorado, we found ourselves in a Turquoise sea.
With every journey West, we waded deeper into this Native American tradition stretching back generations.
As our own collection and knowledge grew, we in turn grew the love, hunting for our friends, finding each their turquoise counterpart. Finding each piece its true home.
The Turquoise
Besides the individual beauty and power inherent to every piece of turquoise, we fell in love with this art for the stories. Sitting with shop owners and collectors, we would be regaled with tales of grandmother’s safety deposit box, or a bureau, every drawer full of silver and turquoise, found in a flood that decimated the state (true story).
Every piece has a story, a history, a journey it has taken, and each one begins with a stone in a mine. They say the only person who can correctly identify turquoise is the one who took it out of the earth. Different varieties of turquoise have distinct characteristics: colors, inclusions, matrices, and density. Through our research and conversations, we have identifiedAll of our Turquoise jewelry is hand made by Native American artists. Some of our pieces are as young as thirty years old, while others date back to the early1900’s. Occasionally, the artist or a trading post will stamp or sign the work.
